Bur Dubai is a region in Dubai that has been there much longer than the rest of the city. It’s less glitzy, less expensive and didn’t shoot out of nowhere in a matter of a decade. Here I visited the Deira spice souk (market) where merchants have been selling their goods for many centuries. Next to the spice souk there’s also a gold souk and a grand souk (selling more general goods).
It was nice to discover a bit of local culture and flavour as we strolled in between the little shops. Most of them sell the same spices, making the art of bargaining a very important if you’re looking for a good deal. Most of the spices are sold in their most raw form and it makes for some pretty pictures.
